Driving tests, birthdays and Frankie's funnys

Hello all,
Let me first begin by saying sorry I haven't kept my blog up. One of the reasons for my absence is that I failed my driving test and really didn't want to publish it. However that was a few weeks ago now and I'm finally getting things back on track. I've booked another test for the end of March so I just have to relax and not pull out in front of a bus! I've got lots of things to organise this week. It is my wonderful husband's 30th birthday next weekend and he knows I've been sorting out a few surprised for him. Just hope he likes all of them.
I haven't made any new meals this week actually I've been quite bad getting a few takeaway to make me feel better. I had my sister over on Wednesday which was lovely. Using grown up words always makes us laugh so when I said that I'd been 'driving Andy to distraction,' we both cracked up. It is not something I would normally say and she noticed that it felt funny coming from me lol.
Frankie has been his usual funny self. I told him this morning that Grandma was coming over to babysit and he said "Wow, I like Grandma, she's my best friend." And once last week I was putting him to bed and said goodnight, he started to get upset and said he couldn't go to sleep. I told him that I'd put George to bed and if he was still awake I'd read him another book but he must try to get to sleep first. To which he replied "It's not easy Mummy" lol.
Right as I've said I have lots to organise and Grandma will be here soon. Hopefully I'll keep up the blog this time and let you know how Andy's birthday goes.

February fevers and snowmen called Barry

I missed a week! I'm sorry. Last week was hectic and the boys and I had ear aches and temperatures. We hardly did anything all week so when it got to friday and I felt better we made homemade pizza's and chocolate cake! I know it's not a new recipe but I've never made homemade pizza on my own before so that was new. We also had snow last week too meaning Frankie was out in it making snowmen and footprints. All week he has had his wellies on out in the snow looking at the pattern his feet are making. Our snowman was called 'Barry' maybe becuase that our plummers name. It was funny when he started to melt and Frankie looked out of the window and said "Oh No Barry's head has fallen off!"
"Oh No!" I said "We will have to find a new plumber now!" Frankie looked confusewd but then said "No Mummy the snowman not Nanny and and Papa's man" (Barry is a family freind and has been my father-in-laws plumber for years)
As well as his speech, his teenage attitude is coming along! He asked me to get him a drink one day last week and I said "Just give me a minute," he put his hands on his hips and said "I know I'm doing the washing up!" and he stormed out of the kitchen. I could not help but laugh.

New tapes, new teeth new haircut

This week, though I have not done a new recipe like I said I would, I am going to the lads tonight to have a fish dish. I am not yet sure what that will be but as I've only tried cod and haddock I'm thinking it's going to be something new for me. We will see then I will comment! So instead of a new dish we have had new tapes fitted in the bathroom today, they are silver and shiny unlike the gold ones we used to have. Also this week George has as a tooth which is a first for him and Frankie has a new haircut which is not a first for him just long overdue! He screamed the entire time making me feel awful but as soon as it was done he told me he was beautiful. Also this week I had a brilliant driving lesson and booked my driving test. I'm not saying what the date is in case it goes wrong! Still wish me good luck at the end of feburary some time.

I think next weeks new dish will be sweet and sour chicken so see you then

Week one recipe one- Chicken and noodle stir-fry

As some of you may have read on my 'trying new things' blog I am planning to try a new recipe every week. The first being chicken and noodle stir-fry. So after one phone call to Mum to ask if I could substitute stock for gravy, I began to make the stir-fry. It was very easy, simply boling the gravy, putting the vegtables in, soaking the noodles then adding them to the gravy along with the chicken and serving with a slash of soy sauce.
So this is what Frankie thought, his dinner went like this:
Mummy: Frankie dinner is ready!
Frankie (takes a look at the dinner): Yuk
M: It's noodles
F: Mmmm I love noodles.(takes a bite of noodles with some help from me)
M: There is chicken too
(F has some chicken)
F: Mmmm this is lovely, What's that?
M: It's a carrot
F:Yuk. What's that?
M: A pepper
F: Yuk
M: Well just eat the chicken and noodles then
F: Please may I get down?
M: No you need to eat some more chicken please. Is it going down the tummy tunnel
F: Yes (in a funny vioce) Down the tummy tunnel! Oh No! It's gone down the tummy tunnel.
M: Oh No you better get some noodles down there to rescue the chicken
F:To the rescue! (He eats the rest of his chicken and noodles but leaves the peppers, carrots and onions)
Overall I think a successful dinner though I wish he would eat the vegtables too. He is one of those strange children who only eats green vegtables, brussel sprouts being his favourite. He must get that from Andy.
Now time for my review. I gave it a 6 out of 10. The noodles were very nice and chicken was lovely a soft but it didn't have that much flavour and I was still hungry when Andy got home. I told Andy that I was still hungry and we decided to get a takeaway and that Andy would take the stir-fry into work for lunch so Andy's review will follow tomorrow! I look forward the next recipe.

I had already booked a counselling course but I dont start til April so i'm considering that something new for this year. Yesterday I made myself an omeltte for the first time ever which turned out to be lovely lol and tonight I'm making a chicken and noodle stir-fry thanks to my Mum who took me shopping on saturday and made me buy the ingredients! I'll let you know how that turns out and if anyone has any suggestions for things to try then let me know and i'll give them a go and tell you all about it!

A new start

So as it's Janurary and as I'm starting new things I thought I'd tell you my other resolutions which are Learning to drive, Taking a course, having a better tidying routine, saving more money and buying myself some clothes that fit.
I have been learning to drive now for five years on and off and when I get to the point where I'm ready to take my test I get scared and stop booking lessons. So with my brother's help (he is a driving instructor for Jigsaw) I am growing in confidence and hope to take my test at the end of February ready for my counselling course which starts April 15th for 5 weeks. I have been keeping the house tidy though I havent actually sat down and made a routine to stick to. I haven't saved any money but I guess that will happen when we have some lol and lastly I haven't bought any clothes for myself though I did get some nice ones for christmas. I've lost quite a bit of weight since George was born just because I've been running around after my children. I've gone from a size 12 to an 8 which is great except that my trousers are falling down! Right best go as George and Frankie require some attention

Reflux, there is a light at the end of the tunnel

This is my first blog but I thought as it's January I'm trying new things. As my blogger name suggests I am a young (22) mum of two. I have a 2 year old and a 9 month old. With my first child Frankie everything was fine, he was harldy ill and as a stay at home mum I was able to devote my time to just him. However when my second child came along I had a completly different experience. He was born a month early and suffered with reflux I had never heard of it before but it turns out that quite a few babies suffer from it. After 8 days in the hospital I finally get my bundle of joy home and thats where the fun started! Every time he was fed he threw it back up and would need to be fed again. I was breastfeeding as its something I love and I couldn't imagine having to make up bottle after bottle in case he threw it back up. Most nights he spent between 7pm til 10pm attached to me. It was a very hard first few months. He was put on Gaviscon but I had to mix it with water and feed it to him as I couldn't mix it into his milk. I asked them for something else becuase he just rhew up the Gaviscon so they put him on domperidone and ranitidine which helped with the pain and he seemed to be throwing up less. George is now, as I've said, 9 months old and is starting to eat the foods that we eat only mushed. It means he is getting much better and only throws but drinks now. He is also off all medication and getting better everyday. So for all those Mum's who think it will never end, it will! Just be patient there is light at the end of the tunnel!
